Essence

This story has been removed to be polished and (hopefully) submitted to competitions. Wish me luck!

Story inspired by the [Fiction Friday] prompt at Write Anything and submitted to JM Strother’s #FridayFlash via Twitter - as well as to  Writing Adventure Group.

Prompt or influence -

Write about a man with an impossibly bad streak of luck on his birthdays, who, as his 40th birthday approaches, is scared of what might happen.

A cheeky little Blade Runner homage if I ever did spy one. Very cool that ending of yours. Your descriptions are pretty damn smooth too!

Definitely liked the android integration. Little bit of Blade Runner, little bit of AI. I like the humour of the character reading through the manual and finding out what different things are actually meant to do.

As always, I love what you've done. Very interesting take on the prompt. I was wondering where the birthday thing would come in.

I really enjoyed your unique take on the prompt. Without a lot of description you were able to create a realistic alternate/future world. I really enjoyed his discovery of the different features.

Great take on the prompt! I loved your opening line and "mindless young things" -- wonderfully descriptive. Loved the humor, great creative thinking on this.

That's an interesting take on the situation - and I wonder if a lot of men have reset buttons in the same place, considering how many of them I see excavating up there!

Is it my age or the fact that some of my parts are running down that drew me into your piece. As always, well written.

You are SUCH a good writer, Annie. I really enjoyed this one. Felt such sympathy for the male model, even though he was only a model of a male model. Am wondering what will happen now that he's reset.
